J. Robert Quatroche

Survivors include his wife, Diana Frost Quatroche; grandson, Johnathan Quatroche; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sons, John Robert Quatroche, Jr. and Michael James Quatroche.
Throughout his long career in higher education, Dr. J. Robert Quatroche has served with distinction as an administrator and faculty member at several institutions of higher education, including his alma mater, State University of New York at Fredonia. His extensive senior management experience encompasses institutional and university advancement, intercollegiate athletics, strategic planning, faculty collective bargaining, teaching and research, and leadership roles in regional and national higher education associations.
Most recently, Dr. Quatroche served as Senior Director of Development/Consultant for the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine and Division of Education. At the Lerner College of Medicine, Dr. Quatroche established the fundraising program as part of The Cleveland Clinic's $1.25 billion dollar capital campaign. Prior to his appointment at The Cleveland Clinic, Dr. Quatroche was Vice President for University Advancement at Florida Gulf Coast University and Executive Director of the Florida Gulf Coast University Foundation. As Vice President, Dr. Quatroche was the Chief Institutional Advancement Officer directing the University's marketing, public affairs, fund-raising, and alumni programs.
Prior to Florida Gulf Coast University, Dr. Quatroche was Vice President for University Advancement and Executive Vice President of the ISU Foundation at Indiana State University. At Indiana State University, he was awarded the William Albert Jones Medal for outstanding advice and counsel to the president of the University. Before Indiana State, he served as founding Vice Chancellor for Institutional Advancement at Southern Illinois University and before then, Vice President for Institutional Advancement at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio. At Indiana State, Southern Illinois and Kent State, Dr. Quatroche's leadership resulted in major increases in Foundation assets and endowments; launching successful fund-raising campaigns; significantly increasing major gift support; establishing and expanding alumni chapters; developing the first-ever strategic plans for fund-raising at all three universities. At Indiana State, Southern Illinois, and Kent State, he presided over the largest individual gifts in the history of each university.
Previously in his career he was Corporate Secretary of the University and Secretary of the Board of Trustees at the University of Pittsburgh, where he also served as Assistant to the President. At Pittsburgh, he was involved in the planning and major gifts solicitations for the $225 million Third Century Campaign. He was awarded the University of Pittsburgh Medallion for outstanding service, loyalty, and dedication to the University, the highest recognition that can be bestowed on a University administrator.
A native of Southampton, New York, Dr. Quatroche received his undergraduate and master's degrees in English from the State University of New York at Fredonia which recognized him with the Outstanding Alumni Achievement Award and Distinguished Service Award. He did additional graduate study in English Literature at the Pennsylvania State University and was awarded a Doctorate of Philosophy in Higher Education Administration from the University of Pittsburgh. He is a graduate of Harvard University's Institute for Educational Management-a comprehensive leadership management program for senior executives of universities and colleges.
Dr. Quatroche's other professional appointments include serving as Executive Assistant to the President at Bloomberg University of Pennsylvania, and, earlier, as Associate Director of Admissions at his alma mater, the State University of New York at Fredonia.
As a researcher of administration and governance in American colleges and universities, Dr.. Quatroche has been involved with national, state, and local educational associations including the Association of Governing Boards (AGB), the Council for the Advancement of Education (CASE), which he served as a district trustee, the American Council on Education (ACE), the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU), and with the Statewide Advocacy Task Force for Ohio Public Higher Educations. He has held faculty appointments lecturing on trusteeship, governance, administrative organization, politics and higher education, strategic planning (institutional and fund-raising), philanthropy in American higher education, and faculty collective bargaining. Dr. Quatroche has been an invited lecturer for the Big Ten Fund-Raisers Institute, and consults on advancement programs and personnel searches. He has extended his service and expertise to benefit community organizations: The Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce, as interim President/CEO (Terre Haute, IN); The United Way of the Wabash Valley, as Interim Executive Director (Terre Haute, IN); Rotary International; SCORE (Council of Retired Executives); the Foundation Board of State University of New York at Fredonia; honorary member of Delta Upsilon; and several cultural groups.
Visitation will be from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 16, 2017 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street, with a rosary service at 6:00 p.m. Mass and burial will be in North Evans, New York.
