Henry William Stadler IV, 56, passed away unexpectedly on September 28, 2022 while traveling with his wife and friends in Munich, Germany. His final days embodied what was most important to Henry - his love of family, friends, fun, and adventure.
Henry was born March 5,1966 in Terre Haute to Henry W. Stadler III and Judy Rassie Stadler. He graduated from Terre Haute South High School in 1984 and earned a degree from Indiana University in 1988. After graduating, Henry worked at Merchants National Bank for a brief period before joining Thompson Thrift as one of the first four employees on
the team. His remarkable career spanned 27 years and his leadership as Chief Operating Officer was crucial in helping grow Thompson Thrift into an industry leader and multifaceted development and construction company. Henry’s quick wit, (and unexpected office pranks!) industry knowledge, and passion for helping others grow made him a leader that others wanted to follow and serve. He was a mentor to many and could be found pushing an ice cream cart around the office or flipping burgers at a company picnic, just so he could say thanks and have some fun with the team.
Henry was a life-long Terre Haute resident, businessman, community leader, and active volunteer who cared about his community and worked to make it a better place. He generously invested his time and talents in support of Terre Haute Junior Tennis, Cub Scouts, Vigo County Youth Soccer, Junior Achievement, United Way, and the Terre Haute Children’s Museum. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited, Strawberry Hill Cannoneers, Pheasants Forever, Wabash Valley Bourbon Boys, Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity, Sycamore Club, and Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. Always eager to share his industry knowledge, and promote career opportunities with students, Henry served in many construction-related advisory roles including those with Indiana State University, Colorado State University, Purdue University, and the Vigo County School Corporation.
Above all his professional and civic accomplishments, Henry was most proud of his family. He cherished time with family vacationing on Anna Maria Island, hiking national parks, spending time at the family cabin on Paint Mill Lake, and attending his children’s activities. He was eager to spend more time in Eagle River, WI where they had recently purchased a home for future family vacations.
Henry had a great love of aviation and made time to obtain his pilot’s license. Just this past September, he completed and passed all testing to receive his instrument rating license of which he was extremely proud. He enjoyed being outdoors and would jump at the chance to go fishing, hunting, or golfing with family and friends. Henry had the special gift of making others laugh and making everyone around him smile.
He is survived by his wife Natali Harbaugh Stadler and children Dr. Henry W. Stadler V, Alexander Stadler, Audrey (Bodie) Breitbach, and Jonathon Stadler; mother Judy Rassie Stadler; sister Staci Stadler Tryon; nieces Carli and Morgan Tryon; granddaughter Parker Breitbach; mother-in-law Bekki Dyer, father-in-law Rod (Penny) Harbaugh; brother-in-laws Joel (Jen) Harbaugh and Jeff Harbaugh; sister-in-law Beth (Chris) Gamble; nieces and nephews Samuel, Jack (Emily), Lucy, and Margaret Harbaugh, Chase and Carter Gamble.
He is preceded in death by his father Henry W. Stadler III; first wife Mary Ann Csipkay Stadler; mother-in-law Ann Csipkay; father-in-law David Dyer; and sister-in-law Mary Card Harbaugh.
