She married Barry Powell in 1961 at Saron United, and took pride as a stay-at-home mom in raising her children, who excelled academically and have had successful careers and lives. She delighted in cooking and preparing holiday meals in the realm of her kitchen, inspiring her kids to do the same with her shared recipes, handed down over the generations, and many cookbooks with encouraging messages.
Passionate about the mountains, the beaches and the world's many cultures, Mrs. Powell relished traveling the globe with her husband including visits to Europe, Asia, Australia, Caribbean and Pacific islands, and every corner of the North American continent.
With her husband, she was well known in their Otter Creek township neighborhood in north Terre Haute for enjoyable family walks with their feisty Scottie dogs. She would often be heard saying, "Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how did you like the play?"
