Harold L. Staggs, 88, of Terre Haute passed away Friday morning, June 16, 2017 at Union Hospital with his family by his side. He had worked at the Tumpane Ordnance Depot and as a Production Controller at General Housewares Corporation until his retirement in 1993. Harold was born July 27, 1928 in Terre Haute to Harold W. Staggs and Helen Ward Staggs. His wife, Margaret "Peggy" Holmes Staggs, preceded him in death in 2011.

Survivors include two daughters, Janet Campbell (Glenden) and Linda Johnson (Guy) all of Terre Haute; a son, Michael Staggs (Lori) of Noblesville, IN; a sister-in-law, Helen Holmes; eleven grandchildren, Jeff Barnaby, Erik Barnaby, Calvin Campbell, Chad Chrisman, Lee Chrisman, Adam Grimes, Bryan Grimes, Mandy Ward, Luke Staggs, Ian Staggs, Ella Staggs, and their spouses; fourteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to his parents and wife, Harold was also preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret "Mickey" Staggs; and three sisters, Barbara Downey, Joan Nemeth and Frances Staggs.

Harold was a graduate of Gerstmeyer Technical High School and was a veteran of World War II having served in the United States Navy on the USS Taconic from 1946-1948. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Euclid Masonic Lodge F & AM and Kerman Grotto where he was Monarch in 1982. Harold was a "BIG" Cubs fan and thoroughly enjoyed seeing them win the World Series last year. He was an avid reader.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, June 21, 2017 in St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1807 Poplar Street. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery with Military Graveside Honors provided by VFW Post #972. Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, June 20th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street. Memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities of Terre Haute, 1801 Poplar Street, Terre Haute, IN 47803 or a charity of the giver's choice.
