Gregory Alan Hughes

Gregory Alan Hughes, 73, went to be with Jesus on Tuesday, March 4, 2025. He was born on April 26, 1951 to James Samuel Hughes and Norma LaVera Barnes. Always a hard worker since he was young, Greg grew up in Terre Haute.

He was a 1969 graduate of Gerstmeyer Tech. That same year, he married his high school sweetheart, Christina Sue Fagg Hughes. Together they had one daughter, Katrina Hughes Jarvis (Denny) and one son, Ryan Hughes (Laura). Greg’s most prized role was that of Grandpa to five grandchildren: Jackson Jarvis (Kaitlin), Kaylin Jarvis Mimms (Sam), Kyla Jarvis Brown (C.J.), Hayden Hughes, and Griffin Hughes. Recently, he took pride in being a Great Grandpa to Gavin Lee Walden, Kinlynn Sue Ann Jarvis, and Jarvis Charles Brown. He was looking forward to the arrival of Baby Girl Mimms in June. He was a brother to three surviving sisters: Jennifer Harbor, Carla Welke, and Margaret Butterfield; and an uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was greeted in Heaven by his parents and two brothers: James Hughes and Bill Britton.

Greg worked as an electrician for IBEW Local 725 for forty years. After retirement, he cherished his family time. He was a dedicated husband who tirelessly cared for his wife of 56 years, Christina, whom he loved very much.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church. A funeral ceremony will be held at 1 p.m., on Saturday, at the church, with Pastor Dennis Ticen and Pastor Rick Swan officiating. Greg will be laid to rest in Oak Hill Cemetery.
