Granville Carter Lowe, 98, of Terre Haute passed away on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 in his residence. He was born November 14, 1919 in Trenton, NJ to Guss C. Lowe and Eva Mae Snook Lowe.
Survivors include his daughter, Barbara Lowe Kraus; son David K. Lowe (Christine); grandchildren, Jeanine Kraus, Andrew Kraus, Nathan Lowe, Zach Lowe , and Andrea Lowe; and brother, Donald Lowe. He was preceded in death by his wife, Luetta Lowe and his parents.
Granville was a member of First Baptist Church, Strawberry Hill Cannoneers, and the Sycamore Club. He volunteered for service in World War II serving with the 101st Airborne. Granville participated in the Normandy invasion, Holland Campaign, and Bastogne. He was a prisoner of war from December 19, 1944 to April 23, 1945. Granville was a graduate of Purdue University and was a sales representative for International Harvester.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 12, 2017 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th Street with Reverend Bernie Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Highland Lawn Cemetery with military honors by V.F.W. Post #972. Visitation will be prior to services 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
