Gordon K. Geckeler, 86, of Terre Haute passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 in Union Hospital. He was born August 14, 1937 in Terre Haute to Oscar Geckeler and Marguerite Forsythe Geckeler.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Tharon Shepherd Geckeler; daughters, Rebecca Boehler (Joe), Donna Stewart (Ed), Lisa Yucatonis (Peter), Shellee Bruner (Chris), and Marla Sobol (Carl); grandchildren, Morgan and Talan Boehler, Kennedi, Brooklyn, and Alaina Bruner, Sarah Switzer, Ryan Nelson (Brittany), Audrey Fish (Jordan), and Anthony and Amber Geckeler; ten great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Oscar Geckeler; mother, Marguerite Morgan; step-father, Floyd Morgan; and sisters, Nancy James and Charlotte Kelley.
Gordon was a member of Northside Community United Methodist Church and former proprietor of Vigo Bowl. He was an Air Force Veteran and a Mason. Gordon was inducted into the Bowlers Hall of Fame in 1976.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 8, 2024 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th Street with Reverend Scott Johnson officiating. Entombment will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is scheduled prior to services from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Vigo County Education Foundation, Gordon and Tharon Geckeler Grant Fund.
