Gloria Rose Etheridge

Gloria Rose Etheridge, 97, of Terre Haute passed away Saturday morning, November 6, 2021. She was born April 26, 1924 in Chicago, IL to Guy Bonavolonta, Sr. and Antoinette (Marino) Bonavolonta. Her husband, The Rev. Dr. Eugene Wesley Etheridge, Sr., preceded her in death in 2012.

Survivors include her daughter, Cora Ann Etheridge of Rockledge, FL; her son, Dr. Eugene W. Etheridge, Jr. of Terre Haute; daughter-in-law, Karen Etheridge of Satellite Beach, FL; and three grandchildren, Lauren Walker (Josh), Haley Fred (John) and Alexandra Etheridge. Also surviving are six great-grandchildren, Nora, Erin, Gwen, Isabel, Loghan and Audrey; two sisters-in-law, Leslie Bona and Joan Nord (Will);  one niece, Barbara Bona;  two nephews, Christopher Bona and Guy Bona (Sue); and many cousins.  In addition to her parents and husband; she was also preceded in death by a son, Guy John Etheridge; two brothers, Roy Bona and Guy Bona; and one step-sister, Elizabeth Caruso.

Gloria graduated from business school and was employed by Meters and Controls in Chicago as an Executive Assistant. She married in 1960 and became a housewife and mother to her three children. Gloria dedicated her life to caring for her family. She enjoyed going on family vacations, sewing, cooking, discussing politics, going to auctions, the opera/theatre and entertaining for big gatherings of people, especially during the holidays. She attended all the churches where her husband preached. She was an accomplished artist in oil painting. She thoroughly enjoyed her daily crossword puzzles.

There are no words to describe how much she will be missed by her family and friends. She was a wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend who was able to take care of herself in her own home up until 5 weeks before her death. The family wants to thank all her friends for making the last 9 years since her husband died so enjoyable for her.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 in Callahan Hughes Funeral Home with Andrew Mech officiating. Viewing will be at 11:00 am with the funeral following at noon.

Gloria will be buried at Florida Memorial Gardens in Rockledge, FL where her husband and son are buried.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent in Gloria’s memory to St. Teresa Catholic School, Attn: Fr. Chris, 203 Ojibway Avenue, Titusville, FL 32780.
