Georgia Victoria White

September 4, 1924 — January 11, 2017

Georgia Victoria "Vickie" White, 92, of Terre Haute passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 11, 2017. Vickie was born September 4, 1924 to R. Clifford and Frances Hattie (Clark) Riney in West Louisville, KY. She was a graduate of Mount Saint Joseph Academy in Maple Mount, KY. She attended secretarial school and on completion took a job with Hoosier Cardinal Tool and Die in Evansville, IN. There she met her husband of 67 years, James Culver White and together they had five children.

Vickie was involved in many community activities including the Newcomers Club (Bay City, MI); President of the Womens Hospital Auxiliary (Gladwin, MI); a member of the Chorus North Shore-MESSIAH annual Christmas concert (Rockport, MA); YMCA-Y Teens and Meals on Wheels (Terre Haute). She was very active in her church community of St. Patrick Catholic parish. She and her husband, Jim, were charter members of the yearly St. Patrick's Day Party; a member of the Rosary and Alter Society; St. Pat's Soup Kitchen volunteer; and St. Patrick School/Schulte H.S. mom volunteer. Through her generous contributions to Food For The Poor, she was instrumental in building homes for three families in Jamaica and Nicaragua.

Survivors include her children, Patricia Ann (David) Clendennin of Shelby Twp., MI; Sharon Louise (Bernard) White-Wheeler of Anchorage, AK; Susan Lynn (Gregory) Aldrich of Terre Haute and David Alan White of Terre Haute; grandchildren, Jeff Thomas (Amy R.) White of Shawnee, KS; Amy Marie White of Ann Arbor, MI; Ryan James Clendennin of Sterling Heights, MI; Christopher David (Cristiane) Clendennin of Boulder, CO; and Leah Elizabeth Aldrich (Khanrad) Wilson of Terre Haute; and great-grandchildren, Adam Daniel White, Celeste Michelle White, Jackson Elliot Noble, Henri Silva Clendennin, David Silva Clendennin, Kellan James Wilson and Liam Edward Wilson. Also surviving is one brother, Tommy Riney; two sisters, Marilyn (Jim) Kurz and Bernice (Herb) Bertke all of Owensboro, KY; a daughter-in-law, Paula Anne White (Norman Young) of Portage, MI; brother-in-law Alan F. (Pat) White of Concord, MA; and 42 nieces and nephews. Vickie was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; a son, Daniel James White; two brothers, James and Bobby Riney; three sisters, Rosita Warren, Imogene Murphy and Louise Clark all of Owensboro, KY; and two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth (Glenn) LeVeque of Orange, CA and Marian (Charles) Cantwell of Evansville, IN.

The family would like to thank Heart to Heart Hospice and special care giver, Crystal for the loving care they provided to Vickie.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:30 A.M., Thursday, January 19, 2017 in St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1807 Poplar Street, with Father Dan Bedel officiating. Private burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled prior to services on Thursday from 10:00-11:00 AM followed by a Rosary at 11:10 AM in the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street. Memorial contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity, 2313 Tippecanoe Street, Terre Haute, IN 47807 or to St. Patrick Soup Kitchen, 1807 Poplar Street, Terre Haute, IN 47803.
