DAD IS NOW IN HEAVEN DANCING WITH MOM

George G. Wilkinson a resident of Terre Haute, passed away on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at the age of 94.  He was born March 7, 1928 in Terre Haute to Murrel Wilkinson and Gertrude DeVol Wilkinson.  “Mom”, also known as his beloved wife, Mary, preceded him in death in 2012 after 63 years of marriage.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Laura Wilkinson of Terre Haute;  his daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Chad Sanders of Millville, UT;  four grandchildren, John Sylvester (Marcia), Mindy Gregory (Phil), Rachel Wilkinson (Eric) and Kayla Trexler (Jeffrey);  six great-grandchildren;  his sister, Margaret Miles of Springfield, IL;  his brother, Richard Wilkinson (Bettye) of Indianapolis;  and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Eleanor Snapp, Ernest Wilkinson, William Wilkinson, Dorothy Hibler and Ronald Kneeland.

George served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.  After his service in the Navy he worked for 39 years with the Terre Haute Tribune Star as a Stereotyper and later as Circulation Manager.  Working until he was 88 years old, George also worked at First Financial Bank for 22 years.  During the month of May, George loved working many years at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.  He was a member of the Moose Lodge, American Legion Post #104, Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Zorah Shrine and Kerman Grotto.  He enjoyed bowling, but most of all he loved dancing with his wife, Mary, and traveling to various parts of the country.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 AM, Thursday, November 10, 2022 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25 ^th Street.  Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.  Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday evening from 5:00-7:00 PM in the funeral home.  If friends should so desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Mooseheart Child City & School, Inc., Mooseheart, IL 60539.  Funeral information and tributes may be found at www.callahanandhughes.com .
