George S. Mcneill

George S. McNeill, 61, of Terre Haute passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2021.  He was born June 15, 1959 in Detroit, MI to George Davidson McNeill of Glasgow, Scotland and Audrey Havard McNeill of Wales.

Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Barbara Snider McNeill;  two sons, Denis McNeill (Bri) of Terre Haute and Scott McNeill (Alexis) of Aurora, CO;  his mother, Audrey McNeill Faiola of Detroit, MI;  and two grandchildren, Oliver and Spencer McNeill.  Also surviving are his brothers, Glen McNeill and Wayne McNeill both of Detroit;  his sister, Tracy Bingam of Detroit;  brother-in –law, David Snider of Fishers, IN;  sister-in-law, Laura Dwyer Rogers of Terre Haute;  and several nieces and nephews including Kristine Dwyer Joy (Dirk) of Terre Haute.  He was preceded in death by his father;  and two brothers, Scott McNeill and Malcolm McNeill.

George received his schooling in Detroit and entered the U.S. Army when he was 17 years old.  While in the Army, he was a nuclear warhead mechanic serving in Germany.  After the Army, George became a journeyman plasterer and worked in that field and as an “all around handyman” the rest of his life.  He was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church.

A visitation is scheduled from 1:00-3:00 PM on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25 ^th Street.  Military Honors and Memorial Services will follow with VFW Post #972 and Father Martin Day, OFM Conv. officiating.   Additionally, Charlie’s Pub and Grub, 1608 Crawford St., will have a gathering of friends to remember George on Friday, May 14 ^th from 3:00-5:00 PM.  If friends should so desire, memorial contributions may be made to St. Benedict Church Soup Kitchen, 111 South 9 ^th Street, Terre Haute, IN 47807.  Funeral information and tributes may be found at www.callahanandhughes.com .
