George Allen Magill

February 23, 1953 — March 29, 2024

George Allen Magill, 71, of Terre Haute passed away Friday, March 29, 2024 at Terre Haute Regional Hospital.  He was born February 23, 1953 to Glenn and Eula Padgett Magill.  George loved his family and was so proud of them.  Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Vickie;  3 children, Jessica, Sam and his fiancée, Megan, and Sara with her partner, Monte;  10 grandchildren, Olivia, Alea, PJ, Daylee, Randi Lynn Allen, Orin, Tater, Moriah, Isaiah and Regan;  also his sister, Peggy;  and brothers, Rick and Gary and his wife, Terry.  Also surviving are his mother-in-law, Glenda;  sisters and brothers-in-law, Donnie and Pam, Susie and Cliff, Cathy and David, Jim and Terra;  along with several nieces and nephews.

He loved his dog, Buddy, listening to his vinyl record collection, playing his guitars and upright bass, attending concerts, reading and working on computers.  He had a wicked sense of humor and loved telling stories.

When George was about 12 years old, he learned how to modify an AM radio to make it pick up shortwave and was able to pick up broadcasts from all over the world.  George later obtained a general ham radio license and used his radio to continue listening and talking to other operators all over the world.

He was a paperboy, owned the Mattress Factory in Decatur, IL, worked at Columbia House, several hospitals and was a substitute teacher. George was in the Air Force and a Vietnam Era veteran.

No formal services are planned.  His family and friends will gather at a later date to share memories.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to CANDLES Holocaust Museum and Education Center, 1532 S. 3rd St., Terre Haute, IN 47802, or rescuing a German Shepard dog who needs a loving home just like he did with Buddy.
