Genevieve E. Klueh

August 6, 1923 — November 19, 2014

Genevieve E. Klueh, 91, of Newport, RI and formally of Terre Haute, Indiana passed away on November 19, 2014 at Grand Islander Health Center in Middletown, RI. She was born August 6, 1923 in Bottineau, ND to Joseph R. Klueh and Martha Doman Klueh. Survivors include her brother and sister-in-law, Duane and Mary Alice Klueh of Terre Haute; seven nieces & nephews, Larry Klueh, Kathy Risacher, Mary Klueh, John Klueh, Michael Klueh, James Klueh and Paul Klueh; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and dear friend, Inez Bliven. Genevieve attended St. Benedict's school then Indiana State Teachers College Laboratory High School (State High School) in Terre Haute, Indiana. She received her baccalaureate and master's degree in English and Library Science from Indiana State Teachers College. Genevieve's teaching vocation began at Attica High School and Michigan City High School in Indiana, and continued with the Department of Defense as teacher and librarian at Dependents Schools overseas. Her service to our military personnel included posts in Japan, England, France, Turkey, and Spain. Genevieve's last placement was for 18 years in Seville and Madrid Spain. She retired to Newport, Rhode Island. Genevieve loved to travel and did so extensively around the world on many wonderful trips. She was also an animal lover, especially of cats, and enjoyed caring for them and volunteering at animal shelters overseas and in Newport. She was a tennis enthusiast and could be found viewing tournaments on television and enjoyed attending tennis events worldwide. She was a former member of St. Benedict Catholic Church of Terre Haute and a long-time member of St. Mary Catholic Church of Newport, RI. Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 12:05 P.M. Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 111 South 9th Street, with Father Matthew Malek, O.F.M. Conv. officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is scheduled prior to services on Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. - 12:00 Noon in the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street.
