Geneva R. Swinford, 99, of Avon, Indiana and formerly of Terre Haute died early Wednesday morning, January 1, 2014 at Countryside Meadows in Avon. She was born November 13, 1914 in Vigo County, Indiana to John W. Mitchell and Lucinda Triplett Mitchell. Survivors include her son, Jack Lautenschlager and wife, Hannah Kay, of Avon, IN; four grandchildren; Jack (Bev) Lautenschlager, Jane (Mark) Benell, John (Lesley) Lautenschlager and Jim (Diana) Lautenschlager; eleven great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Norma Mitchell; and many nieces and nephews. Geneva was preceded in death by her two husbands, Everett Lautenschlager and Charles Swinford; a daughter, Peggy Lautenschlager; and nine brothers and sisters. Geneva was a resident of Westminster Village for 23 years. She was a member of Maplewood Christian Church for many years. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, January 4, 2014 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street, with Pastor Craig Wininger officiating. Burial will be in Summit Lawn Cemetery in Brazil, IN. Visitation is scheduled prior to services on Saturday from 9:00-10:00 A.M. in the funeral home.
