GARY W. O'NEAL Gary W. O'Neal, 74, of Terre Haute went to be with his heavenly Father on Friday evening, November 15, 2013. He was a retired Chief Petty Officer from the United State Navy after 21 years of service. Gary was born October 24, 1939 in Terre Haute to Charles L. O'Neal and Madelyn Duby O'Neal. Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Suellen Jones O'Neal, his three daughters, Merilee O'Neal, Melanie (O'Neal) Siefert and her husband, Mark, and Misty Townsend and her husband, David, all of Terre Haute; seven grandchildren, Brandon King, Marie Townsend, Sarah Townsend, Nicholas Siefert, Hallie Townsend, Brooke Siefert and Rachael Siefert; several in-laws including, Jennifer Cruse and her husband, Larry, of Terre Haute; and several nieces, nephews & cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Loren O'Neal; and a granddaughter, Colleen Siefert. Gary was a 1957 graduate of Wiley High School and served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. In addition to his career with the U.S. Navy, he also worked at Crane Naval Center for 17 years. He was a member of Terre Haute Lodge #19 F & AM where he was a Past Master and 50 year member, Scottish Rite Valley of Terre Haute, Past Masters Association, Lawton Byrum Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #972 and was a Kentucky Colonel. Gary was a car enthusiast having been a member of the Rodders Club and worked tirelessly in genealogy with the Wabash Genealogy Society. He was a wonderful cook and was a Western enthusiast. Most of all, Gary loved being with his family especially his grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 20, 2013 in First Baptist Church, 4701 East Poplar Drive, Terre Haute, IN 47803 with Reverend Bernie Jackson officiating. Entombment will take place at Roselawn Memorial Park with Military Honors provided by VFW Post #972. Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 19th at First Baptist Church from 4:00-8:00 P.M. with a Masonic Memorial Service to take place at 7:30 P.M.
