Gail Templeton Krieble Schultz died peacefully on Thursday evening, February 16, 2023. She was born in New York, New York on February 16, 1948. She was a 1966 graduate of Wiley High School and a 1970 graduate of Indiana University where she was crowned football homecoming queen.
On February 2, 1973, she married the love of her life, Richard Schultz. Together they opened and operated RJ Schultz and Bear Essentials.
In addition to her career in retail, Gail was a dedicated educator. Most recently, she taught creative writing at Ben Franklin Elementary School. Over the years, she dedicated her time and talents to many causes including League of Terre Haute and the Decorators’ Showhouse.
Her favorite career of all was being “Nana” to Tatum and Holden Monaghan. She enjoyed being a part of every aspect of their lives and loved them more than life itself.
She is survived by the light of her life, her daughter, Lindsey Schultz Monaghan and son-in-law, Tim Monaghan, sister, Leslie Krieble Wilkinson, all of Terre Haute, brothers and sisters-in-law, Jeff and Suzanne Krieble, Terre Haute, Brent Krieble, Bloomington, and Barry Krieble and Machelle LaMonaca, Tucson, Arizona. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Janet Schultz Detzel and Jay Detzel and Roberta Schultz Adelman and Bruce Adelman of Terre Haute, her devoted caregiver, Mary Mattox, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Gail was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, her parents, Dr. W.W. (Jack) Krieble and Helen Templeton Krieble, her parents-in-law, Robert and Rona Schultz, her brothers-in-law, Curt Wilkinson and James Schultz; and her sister-in-law, Karen Ellenby.
The family would like to thank Gail’s doctors and nurses for their exceptional care, Dr. Janis Ingebrigtsen, Dr. Anand Bhuptani, Dr. Ashley McCammon, Dr. Prashant Patel, Union Hospital Pulmonary Rehab and Telemetry Nurse team and Hospice of the Wabash Valley.
Private arrangements will be handled by Callahan and Hughes Funeral Home. Friends are encouraged to consider making gifts to the Terre Haute Humane Society, Hospice of the Wabash Valley or to a charity of your choice.
