Frances Campbell Overton, M.D., of Terre Haute, passed away Thursday morning, August 24, 2017 in Union Hospital. She was born to Earle and Ione Stine on February 13, 1935 in Saginaw, MI.
Frances graduated from Houghton College, Houghton, NY in 1957 and Woman's Medical College of Pennsylvania in 1961. She spent a year in Kenya prior to practicing family medicine for 7 years in western New York. In 1974, Frances completed a psychiatric residency at the University of Nebraska. She practiced psychiatry in Nebraska, Kansas, Arizona, New Mexico, North Dakota and Terre Haute. Frances retired from Hamilton Center in 2008 after working there for 10 years. After retirement, she became an active volunteer with the CASA program.
Survivors include a daughter, Alice Aurada; son, Craig Campbell; brother, Earle Stine; and special friends, Cindi Bignell and Carolyn Smeltzer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Herbert Overton; and brother, Peter Stine. Her many friends in the US and Kenya will miss her.
A visitation is scheduled for Monday, August 28, 2017 from 4:00-7:00 PM in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street.
