Floyd Edward Dominick

October 7, 1941 — January 10, 2015

Floyd Edward "Ed" Dominick, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, passed away at 11:49 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015. Ed was born Oct. 7, 1941, in Terre Haute, to Samuel Dominick and Hortence Waggoner Dominick of Clark County, Ill., where he was raised. He graduated from Marshall High School and Indiana State University, where he was a member of the Theta Chi fraternity. Ed proudly served our country in the United States Air Force, which included serving overseas in Japan and Greenland. Ed worked for several businesses in the area, including Stran Steel, Bemis, Ulrich, Happico, and Trailmobile. Many of these companies trusted Ed with management positions, and he was loved and respected by his co-workers. His Catholic faith was very important to him, its values and virtues guiding Ed in how he lived his life everyday. Ed was a long-time member of St. Patrick Parish and served faithfully at the church's Perpetual Adoration Chapel since its inception. Every Thanksgiving, you would find Ed in his turkey apron helping at the annual Ruth Marie Bower Newport Thanksgiving Dinner at St. Pat's. He scheduled the many deliveries made by volunteers to those in need of a good, hot meal. Ed was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Eva Wallace; and his brother, Harold Dominick. Survivors include his wife Barbara Marter Dominick, whom he married Dec. 14, 1968; daughter and son-in-law, Jonathan and Kimberly Swaner of Terre Haute, daughter, Kristina Dominick of Knoxville, Tenn. and son, Marc Dominick of Terre Haute. He's also survived by three granddaughters, Olivia and Zayda Dominick and Camille "Cami" Swaner. Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, January 15, 2015 in St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father Rick Ginther officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 14, 2015 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th Street. The family kindly request that memorial contributions be made to The Hope Center Foundation, 3702 S. 4th Street, Terre Haute, IN 47802.
