Ethel Waugh Mitchell

ETHEL WAUGH MITCHELL Ethel Maxine Mitchell, 83, of Terre Haute passed away Thursday morning, July 25, 2013. She was retired from Reuben H. Donnelley Corporation after many years of service. Ethel was born October 18, 1929 in Vigo County to George Waugh and Bertha Howe Waugh.

Survivors include her daughter, Kathy O'Brien Fleschner and her husband, Steve, of Terre Haute; and four grandchildren, Paul Fleschner and his fiancé, Alison Chemers, Kristin Fleschner, Katie Fleschner McMullen and her husband, Darek, and Tim Fleschner. The last surviving member of her family, Ethel was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, George Waugh, Jr., Richard Waugh and Roscoe Waugh; and two sisters, Betty Isles and Minnie Waugh.

Ethel was a graduate of Concannon High School and loved to bowl in several leagues at Vigo Bowl. She was a hairdresser at Meadows Shopping Center and was also an accomplished seamstress. Most of all, Ethel loved spending time with her family, spoiling her grandchildren with peanut butter fudge and peanut butter cookies. Ethel was a generous, compassionate person and spent several years as a caregiver for several members of her family. She loved the constant companionship of her dogs.

Private Funeral services will be conducted at Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street, with Dr. Mark Fleschner officiating. Private burial will be in Bethesda Cemetery. There is no visitation. The family kindly requests that memorial contributions may be made to National Parkinson Foundation, Inc., 1501 N.W. 9th Avenue, Miami, Florida 33136-1494 .
