She supported the church in various ways for 80 yrs., attending as a high schooler, participating in Sunday School and child care, supporting a myriad of church activities and belonging to Mary Martha Circle. She was an avid supporter of ISU basketball, a golfer and bowler on the Elk’s league. She was a member of the Woman's Department Club for 34 years. Past President Marcia Meyers said that Emma served on many committees but her special love was for the Garden and Nature Study Department where she served as Chairman, Treasurer and hostess. She was also Chair of the Ways and Means Committee, organizing many events for fund-raising. Another Past President, Carolyn Jeffiries commented that Emma was one of the most dedicated members of all time helping at the club as Hostess and attending if not participating in the club's many style shows.
She will be remembered for her integrity, devotion to family, love of her pets and the outdoors, including fishing with her husband. Needless to say, she was one of our few remaining members of “the Greatest Generation”, you couldn't miss her social grace or classy style- lovely at every age.
