Emit Edward "Eddie" Palmer, 84, of Terre Haute passed away peacefully with his family by his side Sunday, April 14, 2019 in Union Hospital. He was born May 23, 1934 in Terre Haute to Emmitt Palmer and Dorothy Handy Palmer.
Survivors include his daughter, Cheryl Akers; son, Charlie Palmer; sister, Betty Fennell; grandchildren, Dr. Alyssa Akers Moudy (James), Keaton Akers, Steven Palmer Short; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Patsy Hollingsworth; his parents; and brother-in-law, Frank Fennell.
Eddie was a 1952 graduate of Gerstmeyer High School. He was in the Army from 1954 - 1958 stationed in Korea. Eddie enjoyed attending races at the Terre Haute Action Track, listening to country music, spending time with his family and friends, and visiting his "grand dogs". He had worked and retired from Quaker Maid and Duke Energy. The family would like to thank the staff of Meadows Manor East and the ICU staff at Union Hospital for their kindness and care.
Visitation will be from 1:00 - 4:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 20, 2019 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Terre Haute Humane Society.
