Emily Cox Gedrick died on February 28, 2019, in Hillsboro Beach, Florida. Born Emily Rogers in Terre Haute, Indiana, on November 3, 1942, to Mary Florence Davis and Benjamin Guille Cox, she is survived by her husband of fifty-four years, John Paul Gedrick, Jr., their two children, John Paul Gedrick, III, and Susan Cox Gedrick, two grandchildren, Nicholas Oskar Tuozzolo and Maya Catherine Tuozzolo, her brother, Benjamin Guille Cox, Jr., and his wife, Cynthia Zwerner, her sister, Collett Davis Cox, and her husband, William Arraj, and by several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Emily was a graduate of Wiley High School and Indiana University, a historian by training. She prided herself on raising her children with her at home and on contributing to the life of the communities in which she lived as a volunteer. She cherished, particularly, the members and the causes championed by them of these religious, social, and philanthropic institutions, St. Stephen's Church, Kappa Alpha Theta, PEO, Tri Kappa, Alliance of the Swope, and Terre Haute Day Nursery.
After a morning burial in Highland Lawn, her husband would be pleased to receive family and friends at home from 12 to 4 o'clock in the afternoon on Saturday, March 16, 2019.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial contribution to the Indiana School for the Deaf, the Multiple Sclerosis Society, or another charity.
Callahan and Hughes are responsible for the exceptional handling of both the local and out-of-state arrangements. The family extends their gratitude.
