Elizabeth F. Parks
Elizabeth F. Parks, 98, of Terre Haute, passed away on Monday, January 4, 2016 in Westminster Village Health Rehabilation. She was born on October 22, 1917 in Santa Claus, IN to Nelson A. Fahr and Ethel Cooper Fahr. Elizabeth was a retired school librarian. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, Carl Esten Parks, who passed away in 2006.
Survivors include a son, David Nelson Parks of Indianapolis; and a daughter, Judith Elizabeth Parks of Overland Park, KS; her nephew, James S. Parks; and a niece, Joanie Rumple.
Elizabeth was a 1935 graduate of Garfield High School and a 1939 graduate of Indiana State University. She later earned her Master of Science Degree in 1963 from Indiana State University. After living in Rockville, IN and teaching at Rockville High School, Elizabeth, along with her husband, moved to Terre Haute and became a school librarian at several schools in The Vigo County School Corporation. She was a life member of Centenary United Methodist Church and had served as Centenary Guild President. Elizabeth was a long time member of Tri Kappa and was past president of the Rockville Chapter. She served as president of Province 5 Terre Haute Chapter. She was active in Delta Gamma Alumna and president, vice president and recording secretary of BN Chapter of PEO Sisterhood. She was a board member of Indiana State University Friends, Visiting Nurses Association of Wabash Valley and Hospice of Wabash Valley. A member of The Womans Department Club, Sheldon Swope Museum and Alliance, Indiana State Alumni Association and Sycamore Varsity Club.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Friday, January 8, 2016 in Callahan Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th Street with Pastor Rick Swan officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is scheduled two hours prior to services from 11:00 A.M to 1:00 P.M. Friday in the funeral home.
