Elizabeth Calvert, 97, of Terre Haute, died Tuesday, October 22, 2019. She was born June 4, 1922 in Terre Haute to Jesse McComb and Lela Barnett McComb.
Surviving Betty are her children, Stephen Calvert (Susan) of Atlanta, GA, Deborah Calvert of Terre Haute, and Donna Calvert Kingston (Mel) of Chesterfield, MO; and three nephews, Bob Herrold, Dick Herrold, and Earl Stecker. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Robert D. Calvert in 1964; two sisters, Helen Stecker, and Dorothy Herrold; and a nephew, Lloyd Stecker.
Betty was a graduate of the Union Hospital School of Nursing. She attended school, graduated, and then worked at Union Hospital as a registered nurse. She was proud of her involvement with and proud to be the oldest member of her association of retired Union Hospital nurses. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed reading, needlework, and cherished her independence until the day she died.
Funeral services for Betty will begin at 12 Noon on Friday, October 25, 2019 at Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home with Reverend Monte Vincent officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until Noon at the funeral home. A private burial will be held at a later date.
