Elaine Sue Woolley, age 72, of Terre Haute died Sunday, January 23, 2922 at the home of her sister in Marysville, Ohio.
A chief petty officer in the United States Navy, she retired as a yeoman in 1991 following a career of 20 years. Her service included duties in San Diego, Japan, Philippines, and Hawaii.
An avid cat lover, she rescued felines and was so passionate about cats that she started her own business, “Happy Cat,” which manufactured cat toys.
Elaine was known as “unstoppable” for her generosity, zest for life and empathy for others. She loved meeting up with her friends and family for all types of games. Bingo was always at the top of the list, not to mention Yahtzee and all other types of dice games.
Elaine married the “love of her life” Ray Woolley in Japan in 1985. They were married 35 years until Ray’s passing on September 3, 2020.
Elaine was born June 21, 1949 in Olney, Illinois to the late Jim West and Peggy French McAfee. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ray M. Woolley.
She is survived by her siblings, Carol (Doug) Willis of Oregon City, Oregon, Kathy (Kurt) Westfall of Marysville, Ohio, and Mike West of Springfield, Ohio; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Friday, March 18, 2022 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25 th Street with Chaplain Tom officiating. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post #104.
