Eileen Legg Wilkinson, 89, of Terre Haute passed away Wednesday evening, April 19, 2017 in Terre Haute Regional Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born December 10, 1927 in Brooklyn, New York to Michael Ryan and Mary Fitzgerald Ryan.
Survivors include her husband, William E. Wilkinson; and her six children, Bobby Legg and his wife, Judy, of Terre Haute, Michael Legg and his wife, Danielle, of Westfield, IN, Kathleen Berger and her husband, Donald, of Granger, IN, Doreen Legg McKillop and her husband, Darrell, of Terre Haute, Mary Legg Holechko and her husband, Eric, of Carmel, IN and Colleen Pettijohn-Spice and her husband, Mike, of Terre Haute. Also surviving is her step-daughter, Miki Wilkinson of Japan; her sister, Mary Kathleen Dunphy of Long Island, NY; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Eileen was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert D. Legg; a granddaughter, Mary Elizabeth Legg; a sister, Lillian Wilbur; and a son-in-law, Jerry Pettijohn.
Eileen was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, and auxiliaries associated with the VFW, American Legion and Eagles. She served as a precinct committeeperson for 50 years and had worked in the Vigo County Voter Registration and Recorders Offices. Eileen had a special love of children, not only her own, but also helped to raise two neighborhood children as well.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, April 25, 2017 in St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1807 Poplar Street, with Father Dan Bedel officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Monday from 4:00-8:00 P.M. with a Rosary to be recited at 8:00 P.M. in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street.
