Eileen Thomas, 98, of Terre Haute died at 6:50 P.M. on Saturday, September 26, 2015 in her home at Westminster Village. She was born on July 13, 1917, to Ben and Bonnie Brown Austin in Swan, IA. She was a graduate of Hymera High School. Eileen was employed by the Vigo County School Corporation as a secretary at Otter Creek Middle School and was a member of Delta Theta Tau Sorority. She was a long time member of Memorial United Methodist Church. Eileen was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Paul K. Thomas in 2003, her parents and a sister, Elaine Smith. She is survived by her son, Tom Thomas and his wife, Jennifer Anshutz Thomas, of Terre Haute; and 2 granddaughters, Emily Thomas Lindley and Dan Lindley of Tampa, FL and Sarah Thomas Reeg and Gavin Reeg of Whitestown, IN. Her family was the joy of her life and will treasure memories of the love she shared with them. Memorial Services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 30, 2015 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street, with Reverend Scott Johnson officiating. Visitation is scheduled prior to services from 11:00 A.M.- 2:00 P.M. in the funeral home. Private interment will be at Calvary Cemetery. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Memorial United Methodist Church, 2701 Poplar Street, Terre Haute, IN 47803, or to the 14th and Chestnut Center, 1403 Chestnut St., Terre Haute, IN 47807; or to the Vigo County Education Foundation, 686 Wabash Ave., Terre Haute, IN 47807.
