Edward Lee Davis, 67, died Saturday February 1st, 2020 following a 16 month battle against cancer. Born in Terre Haute to Dick and Sally (Feuerstein) Davis, he leaves his wife of 45 years Anita Paauwe Davis; children, Richard (Stevi), Andrew (Ashley), Karl (Anna), and Greta (Tony) Creamer; and grandchildren; Haley, Jonathan, Linnea, Jackson, Claire, Ava, Davis, and Maya. He is also survived by his brother, Richard (Donna) Davis; sisters in law, Marliza (Ivan) Wentz, Jan (Kevin) Weust, Teresa (Michael) Tackett, and Annette (Sydney) Franklin; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his parents and his sister, Sarah (Suzie) Davis.
Born and raised in Terre Haute, he graduated Garfield High School, class president, in 1970. He then attended Purdue University for undergraduate and Indiana University Medical school. Ed graduated from IU medical school in 1977 and IU residency in 1981. He went on to practice Obstetrics and Gynecology with Dr. Naroozi for over 36 years before retiring in 2017, having delivered over 5,000 babies in that time.
Ed was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt rabbits (with Mike and John), deer, and fishing. He was also an athlete, having completed 3 marathons and 3 Ride Across Indiana bike rides. His claim to fame is a Hole-In-One at TPC Scottsdale. When he wanted to travel even further he hopped on his motorcycle, riding across the United States with close friends. Through every stage of his life was his close friend from 5th grade, Ron Montgomery, who was never far no matter what the adventure.
One of his great passions was his farm where he planted over 50,000 trees. He loved to work on his tractors, split firewood, hunt for mushrooms, or just hike through the woods for hours on end. But more than anything he wanted to share this special place with all his family and friends.
