Dr. Steven J. Cieciura, 88, of Terre Haute (and formerly of Indianapolis) passed away Monday evening, February 9, 2015. He had worked as Director of Operations for various pharmaceutical companies throughout his career. Steve was born September 3, 1926 in Staten Island, NY to Joseph Cieciura and Pauline Paluch Cieciura. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth "Libby" Matthew Cieciura; a daughter, Anne O'Rourke of Terre Haute; two sons, Dr. Craig Cieciura and his wife, Bryn, of Fishers, IN and Mark Cieciura and his wife, Maria, of Chicago, IL; two step-daughters, Annie Bauer of Terre Haute and Kristin Berghoff and her husband, Michael, of Indianapolis; and a sister, Wanda Rapelyea of Elizabeth, NJ. Also surviving are a brother-in-law, Dr. Guy Matthew and his wife, Sharon, of Bloomington, IN; six grandchildren, Caitlin, Brendan, Adam, Caroline, Carly and Will; six step-grandchildren, Lauren, Ellyn, John Robert, Libby, Michael and Nicholas; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sheila Cieciura; two infant sons, Steven J. "Jay" Cieciura, Jr. and Robert Evans Cieciura; a brother, Joseph Cieciura; two sisters, Helen Billyer and Jesse Falkowski; and a step-daughter, Barbara Gayso. Steve earned his Bachelor's Degree from Colorado University, his Master's Degree from Denver University and his PhD. Degree from Colorado University Medical School where he taught briefly after receiving his degree. He served with the United States Navy during World War II and was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, Chi Psi Fraternity, S.C.O.R.E. and Rose-Hulman Board of Associates. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 13, 2015 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 2405 South 7th Street, with Father Rick Ginther officiating. Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, February 12, 2015 from 5:00-7:00 P.M. in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street.
