Dr. Noaman Botros

May 7, 1947 — August 10, 2022

Dr. Noaman Botros, age 75, of Terre Haute, passed away on August 10 at Terre Haute Regional Hospital from injuries sustained in an auto accident. He was born May 7, 1947, to Noshi and Bahia Botros of Abnoub, Egypt, a small village on the Nile River. Noaman completed his medical education and surgery residency in Egypt before coming to the United States in 1977. He completed further residency in Columbus, OH and a thoracic and vascular fellowship in Houston at Texas Heart Institute with Drs. Cooley and DeBakey. He moved to Terre Haute in 1986 and started a solo surgical practice. Dr. Botros married Dr. Carol Heine in 1991. He joined the staff of both Union and Terre Haute Regional Hospitals, where he practiced until his retirement in 2017.

He was a gifted and talented surgeon who cared deeply about his patients, appreciated his nurses and staff, and developed close and lasting friendships with many of his colleagues.

He also benefited from the medical expertise of other talented physicians as the recipient of a liver transplant in 2005. This procedure saved his life and allowed him to continue his professional career. Noaman was a longtime member of several local, state, and national medical organizations.

From an early age, Noaman was an avid reader and writer, and loved poetry. He was known by friends as a lifelong learner with an encyclopedic memory and passion for investing. He was a wise and soft-spoken man who made his presence known by his caring spirit and genuine interest in those around him. After retirement he wrote his memoirs, and compiled his favorite quotes in a “Book of Wisdom”.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four of his siblings. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Carol, and their two sons Joseph and Mark (Brooke) Botros. He is also survived by five brothers and two sisters.

In keeping with Noaman’s wishes, there will be no visitation or services. The family asks that prayers, favorite stories, and memories of Noaman be shared with them.  A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
