Dr. Leland B. Moore
Dr. Leland B. Moore, 94, of Terre Haute passed away on Friday, January 20, 2017 in Union Hospital. He was born April 19, 1922 in Terre Haute to Carter Lafayette Moore and Charlotte Stuck Moore. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Lila Ruth Trask Moore who passed away in 2011.
Survivors include a daughter, Ann Van Sandt and her husband John of Marshall, IL; a son, Gary Moore and his wife Diana of Springfield, IL; three brothers, Elwin Moore and his wife Corine of Danville, IL, Merlin Moore and his wife Janet of Colorado and Burlin Moore of Sullivan; seven grandchildren including, Gary Lee Moore whom he helped raise; and 8 great grandchildren. Dr. Moore was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Wilbur Moore; a sister, Doris Armstrong Roberts; and sister-in-law, Mary Moore.
He was Chairman Emeritus of Electronics and Computer Technology at Indiana State University. He served as national president of the National Association of Industrial Technology. Dr. Moore was a member of Phi Delta Kappa. His love for God and his church were very important to him. He taught Sunday school and was first deacon at Terre Haute First Baptist Church. He also taught Adult Sunday School at North Baptist Church. Dr. Moore served his country proudly in the Army during W.W. II. He had a lifelong love of learning.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 25, 2017 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th Street with Pastor Kyle Andrews officiating. Private burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Riley. Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to services. Arrangements are under the direction of Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th Street.
