Dr. Joseph G. (Joe) Huber, Jr.

Dr. Joseph (Joe) G. Huber, Jr., a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and Vietnam War veteran, passed away on August 11, 2024, at the age of 85.

Born on August 4, 1939, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Joe was dedicated to his family and his country. He served with honor in the Vietnam War, and his bravery and commitment to his fellow soldiers were a testament to his character. He retired from the U.S. Army in 1979 after serving this country for twenty-three years.

Following his military career, Joe organized and developed a general contracting firm, The Huber Company, in Leavenworth, Kansas, which specialized in government construction and renovation projects. His company flourished until such time as he chose to semi-retire to pursue a higher education. He acquired his Bachelor of Arts from San Diego State University and his Master of Science and Doctor in Philosophy from the University of Kansas. He relocated to Terre Haute, Indiana after accepting a position as an Associate Professor of Construction Technology at Indiana State University, where he taught until 1999. Among his many other accomplishments, Joe became well-known as a real estate entrepreneur in the Terre Haute community with an abundance of rental and investment properties.

Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Cathleen Huber. He is survived by his children, Michael Pufall, Joseph Pufall, William Pufall, Patricia Iampieri, Carol McPheters, Susan Abbate, James Huber, John Huber and stepchildren, Stacy Chrestman and Eric Huber. He is also survived by his brothers, sisters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many other family members and close friends.

His legacy of strength, resilience, and compassion will be remembered by all who knew and loved him.

There are no services locally.  He will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please honor his memory by way of a charitable contribution to a veteran’s organization of your choice.
