Dr. Frank Bradford Anshutz, 88, of Terre Haute passed away early Sunday morning, February 12, 2017. He was a dentist in Terre Haute for 64 years before his retirement in 2016. Frank was born July 19, 1928 in Terre Haute to Wade B. Anshutz, Sr. and Mabel Kawell Anshutz.
Survivors include his loving wife of 66 years, Pauline "Polly" Templeton Anshutz; four children, Jennifer Thomas and her husband, Tom, and Claire Marchese and her husband, Neil, all of Terre Haute, Susan Anshutz of Michigan City, IN and Scott Anshutz and his wife, Samantha, of Des Moines, IA; a daughter-in-law, Margie Anshutz of Terre Haute; and nine grandchildren, Emily (Dan) Lindley, Stephen (Darci) Marchese, Sarah (Gavin) Reeg, Frank J. Anshutz, Grace Anshutz, Foster Anshutz, Beck Anshutz, Lainey Anshutz and Ella Anshutz. Also surviving are two great-grandchildren, Max and Leo Marchese; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Thomas and Carol Templeton of Terre Haute, Phyllis and Bill Myers of Arizona and Ronni Templeton of Terre Haute; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved son, Dr. Bruce P. Anshutz (d.2015), with whom he practiced for 27 years, and his adored granddaughter, Polly Elizabeth Marchese (d.2001).
Frank was a graduate of Wiley High School and received his D.D.S. degree from the Dental School of Northwestern University where he became a life member of the G.V. Black Society. Frank was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War having served with the 52nd Medical Battalion, D84 Engineer Battalion and 96th Field Artillery Battalion.
After his service in the Army, Frank returned to Terre Haute and joined the family dental practice of his grandfather, Frank P. Anshutz, his father, Wade B. Anshutz, Sr. and his brother, Wade B. Anshutz, Jr., founded in 1905. In his profession, he was president and had served on the Board of Directors of the Indiana State Board of Dental Examiners, had served as president of the Western Indiana Dental Society and was a founding member of the Indiana Dental Association Peer Review Commission. Frank's community involvement included being a life member of First Congregational Church, president and member of the Terre Haute Kiwanis Club and membership on the Rose-Hulman Board of Associates.
Memorial services are scheduled for 3:00 P.M., Friday, February 17, 2017 at First Congregational Church, 630 Ohio Street, with Reverend Donald Mullen officiating. Visitation will take place prior to services from 12:00 Noon - 3:00 P.M. in the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street.
