Dorothy Jane Sampley, 85, of Terre Haute passed away Wednesday May 3, 2017 in Springhill Village & Rehabilitation. She was born to Jessie Flanagan and Stella Mayo Flanagan in Danville, IN on June 11, 1931. She grew up in Avon Indiana. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Franklin D. Sampley who died in 2008.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Ricky Glen Richard and his wife Terri of Baltimore, MD, Phyllis J. Bucklew and her husband Mike Pick of Terre Haute, Mary Elizabeth Poteete of Terre Haute, Franklin Sampley, Jr. and his partner, Filomeno Fiel of Terre Haute, Rodney Eugene Sampley and his wife Rhoda "Janie" of Terre Haute, Bonnie Juanita Jackson and her husband, Tim of Duncan, OK and John Jim David Sampley of Duncan, OK; three brothers, Eugene, Larry and John Flanagan; and her twin sister, June Hayes; Fourteen grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren. Dorothy was also preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Juanita Sommer. She was also preceded in death by her granddaughter Julie Sampley, and her grandson, Stephen Scheetz.
She attended Gospel Tabernacle Church of Terre Haute, Freedom in Christ Church in San Francisco and Duncan Apostolic Church of Duncan, OK. Dorothy graduated from Red River Vocation School on April 7, 1983 earning her CNA.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday May 5, 2017 from 4:00-8:00 PM and one hour prior to services.
A Celebration of Life will begin at 6:30 PM Friday in the funeral home.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:00 AM Saturday May 6, 2017 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th Street with Bishop Jerry VanLue officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery Plainfield, IN. Visitation is scheduled for one hour prior to services.
