Dorothy Elizabeth Butwin Jones, 89, of Terre Haute passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2017 in Union Hospital. She was born January 8, 1928 in Seelyville, IN to John Butwin and Anna Mehok Butwin. Dorothy was retired from food service at Rose Hulman.
Survivors include her children, Barbara Jones of Terre Haute, Jim Jones of Terre Haute, and Bob Jones (Jenny) of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Ashley, Roxanne, Caroline, Rachelle, and Matthew; great grandchildren, J.J. and Jayceon; sister, Helen M. Meunier; sister-in-law, Betty Butwin; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Max E. Jones; her parents; daughter-in-law, Brenda Jones; brothers, Wendell Butwin, Steve Butwin, John Butwin, Frank Butwin, and George Butwin; sisters, Anne Tribble and Mary Buck; and grandchildren, Jared Max Jones and Bethany Sue Jones.
Dorothy was a lifetime member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. She was a St. Louis Cardinals and Indiana Pacers fan. Dorothy took many casino trips including Las Vegas and Tunica, Mississippi. She was an avid bowler, a great cook, and helped take care of the family dogs. She loved spending time with family and family reunions. She loved to travel, she went to San Juan twice in the youth exchange program with the Boys Club, and followed I.S.U. basketball when Larry Bird was playing, making all home and all but one away games.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 in Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Father Dan Bedel officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. on Monday, January 30, 2017 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street with a rosary service at 7:00 p.m. led by Father Todd Riebe and from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. Tuesday also at the funeral home.
