Dorothy Jane Jeffers, 90, of Terre Haute passed away Monday, December 18, 2017 in Union Hospital. During her career, she was employed at Pfizer working with vaccines and later retiring as secretary at J.I. Case. Dorothy was born May 2, 1927 in Terre Haute to Roscoe Bowen and Hazel Mullikin Bowen. Her husband, Charles Jeffers, Jr., preceded her in death in 2012.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Charles Robert & Bonnie Jeffers of Cloverland, IN; her daughter and son-in-law, Janice & Ronnie McIntosh of Amherst, VA; four grandchildren, Beth Ann Longyear (Darel), Brad Jeffers (Tiffany), Mark Poleski (Dana) and Chrystal Staton (G.L.); seven great-grandchildren, Bradley, Alex, Ellie, Grace, Emma, Ashley and Reese; one great-great-grandchild, Sofia; and her former son-in-law, Steve Poleski. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Catherine Thomas.

Dorothy was loving and devoted to her family and friends and a caregiver for much of her entire life. She was a true animal lover, taking in all kinds of stray animals, and also loved gardening and taking care of her flowers. She especially loved to visit on the telephone with her life-long special friends Lela Mae, Vera, June, Gracie and Mary Ellen (who has since passed away).

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Friday, December 22, 2017 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street, with Pastor Ric May officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled prior to services on Friday from 10:00-11:00 AM in the funeral home.
