Dorothy Rose Jackson, 88, of Terre Haute passed away Saturday morning, April 11, 2015 at Southwood Health & Rehabilitation Center. She was born June 5, 1926 in Terre Haute to John J. Gropp and Anna Ellen Donie Gropp. Her husband, Paul A. Jackson, preceded her in death. Survivors include her six children, Donald Jackson and his wife, Ruth, of Terre Haute, Anna Marie Jackson of Bloomington, IL, Leander Jackson and his wife, Kim, of Indianapolis, Regina Hayes and her husband, Thomas, of Roanoke, VA, Mary Jane Jones and her husband, Harley, of Terre Haute and Dale Jackson and his wife, Laura, of Bloomington, IL; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Rita Marie Gropp of Cincinnati, OH and Linda Gropp of Terre Haute; brother-in-law, Bill Oeding of Terre Haute and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, John L. Gropp, Charles F. Gropp, Edward J. Gropp, and Robert W. Gropp; and three sisters, Mary E. Belfi, Rita A. Liva and Ellen R. Oeding. Dorothy was a long-time member of St. Benedict Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 12:05 P.M. Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 111 South 9th Street, with Father Martin Day officiating. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Monday from 5:00-8:00 P.M. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:30 P.M at St. Benedict Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street. The family kindly requests that memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
