DONNA C. MILLER Donna C. Miller, 78, of Terre Haute passed away peacefully Saturday morning, September 13, 2014 in her residence. She was a Home Economics Teacher having taught at Chauncey Rose Middle School. Donna was born September 2, 1936 in Clinton County, Indiana to Walter Uitts and Lucille Jaynes Uitts. Survivors include her loving husband of 55 years, Max G. Miller; three daughters and sons-in-law, Carmen & Brian Manning of Terre Haute, Brenda & David Pomfret of Hudson, WI and Karen & Scott Foster of Avon, IN; two sisters, Phyllis Smith of Vincennes, IN and Esther Braden and her husband, Bill, of Kokomo, IN; seven grandchildren, Paul, Thomas and Caitlin Manning, Roland and Aislinn Pomfret, and Max and Claire Foster; two brothers-in-law, Rodney Miller and his wife, Janice, of Kansas City, KS and William Miller and his wife, Roxie, of Atlanta, GA; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Donna earned her bachelor's degree from Purdue University, her master's degree from Ball State University and her post graduate masters+ degree from Indiana State University. In addition to her regular teaching duties, she also taught 19 years at Terre Haute North Vigo High School for an Adult Sewing Night Class. Donna was a member of the Indiana State Teacher's Association and was a very active and long-time member of Memorial United Methodist Church where she formerly taught and was a member of the Finders Seekers Class, was a member of United Methodist Women and frequently attended Bible Study. She enjoyed being with her grandchildren, family gatherings and was known for her oil paintings and spinning wool for Fowler Park Pioneer Days. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 17, 2014 in Memorial United Methodist Church 2701 Poplar Street, with Reverend Scott Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday from 4:00-7:00 P.M. and also on Wednesday prior to services from 12:00 Noon-1:00 P.M., all at Memorial United Methodist Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street.
