David Earl Berry

David Earl Berry, 71, of Terre Haute passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2023 in Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care.  He was born February 23, 1951 in Terre Haute to Matthew J. Berry and Mary A. Sullivan Berry.

Survivors include his children, Jennifer C. Berry, Jacqueline E. Engelke (Paul), and David A. Berry (Sarah Treash); granddaughters, Elizabeth Berry-Cole and Victoria Engelke; mother of his children, Margaret H. Berry; sister, Margaret E. Inman (Dean); sister-in-law, Joy Barker; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Matthew James Berry, Bill Barker, and Ed Barker.

David retired as a Teamster in 2006, having driven for UPS, Airborne Express and DHL. He was a phenomenal papa and his children and grandchildren were the joy of his life. David attended St. Patrick School, graduated from Schulte in 1969, received his bachelors in Economics from Indiana State University in 1973, and his Masters of Agricultural Economics from Virginia Polytechnic in 1976.  He was gregarious and loved talking to people everywhere he went as well as spending time with family and a great group of lifelong friends. David had a lifetime love of learning. He also loved watching television and movies, taking care of others, and good food.  He was independent with a great sense of humor and a big heart.

Funeral services will be at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25 th Street. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care.
