Danny Leon Hicks

August 3, 1959 — April 10, 2022

Danny Leon Hicks, 62, of Terre Haute passed away Sunday, April 10, 2022.  He was born August 3, 1959 in Harrisburg, IL to William Theodore Hicks and Verla English Hicks.  He spent his childhood in Golconda, IL and attended Pope County High School before moving to Terre Haute and starting a family. Danny was a proud father and grandfather.  He was charming and tender-hearted. He frequently visited his daughters and grandchildren bringing thoughtful treats and gifts. He loved the outdoors and all types of wildlife. He could identify any tree or flower by name and had a skilled eye for creating beautiful landscapes and outdoor havens. Danny lovingly served the Carmelite Monastery for nearly 20 years. He loved to build original yard decorations, knickknacks, and wall hangings from simple items. Danny was a frequent customer of Coffee Cup and Baesler’s Market. His favorite movie was Forrest Gump and he loved anything related to Mount Everest. He enjoyed music by AC/DC, Pearl Jam, and Shinedown. His daughters and their families are honored to continue caring for his most prized possessions; his beloved pets Suey and Rosie. Danny was an honorable man and will be forever missed by his family and dearest friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Verla Hicks, and brother William Jack Hicks. Survivors include his daughters, Hali Johnson (Jesse) and Hilliree Brown (Brett); sisters, Donna Jennings, Beatrice Schnake, and Brenda Younker; grandchildren, McKynleigh, Mylee, Reagan, Cole, Bo, and Lane; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in his honor. Arrangements are under the direction of Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Team of Mercy at teamofmercy.org.
