Daniel R. Williams, 92, of Terre Haute passed away Sunday evening, November 25, 2018 in his home surrounded by his family. He was born September 24, 1926 in Shawnee Township, IN to Roy Williams and Helen (Strader) Williams. The family moved to Terre Haute when he was very young. Daniel attended local schools and after his graduation from Garfield High School he attended I.S.U. where he received a bachelor's degree. He was employed by Smith Alsop/MAB Paints for forty-four years in a number of executive positions until his retirement in 1994.
He was a long-time and active member of Memorial United Methodist Church where he served on various committees and spent many summers working in the church yard. Daniel was a member of the Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club, Jaycees and National Credit Committee. He was a member of the Terre Haute Elks Club #86 and served as Exalted Ruler in 1964-1965. Daniel served in the U.S. Army and Armed Forces Reserves and was an avid golfer and gardener.
Daniel is survived by his wife of forty years, Doris (Shaffer) Williams; two daughters, Jane (Klaus Dieter) Wurm of Denver, NC and Lynn (Edward) Holloman of Terre Haute; two grandchildren, Nicholas and Annika Wurm of Denver, NC; and a special great-nephew, Chase Hamilton, who helped care for Daniel.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Friday, November 30, 2018 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street, with Reverend Scott Johnson officiating. Visitation is scheduled prior to services on Friday from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM. Pall Bearers are Klaus Dieter Wurm, Nicholas Wurm, Edward Holloman, Jim Shaffer, Tom Hays and Dick Unger.
