Cora Nell Lewis

June 3, 1933 — April 22, 2016

Cora Nell Anthony Lewis, 82, of Terre Haute passed away on Friday, April 22, 2016 in her residence. She was born June 3, 1933 in Jasonville, IN to Roy Anthony and Reverend Zella Craig Anthony. Cora Nell married David E. Lewis in Jasonville, IN on June 17, 1951. She retired from Providence Medical Group in 2011.

Survivors include two sons, David A. Lewis and his wife Darlyne of Birmingham, AL and J. Bret Lewis and his wife Ellen of Crawfordsville, IN; two daughters, Holly Wheaton and Jo Nell Lewis both of Terre Haute; sister, Dorothy A. Nickerson of Palmyra, VA; eight grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; cousins; nieces and nephews; and good friend, Trenna Grischow. She was preceded in death by her husband, David E. Lewis in 2008; her parents; and sisters, Rosemary Boston and Eva Claire Tiny Bell.

Cora Nell was a member of the Jasonville Assembly of God and attended Memorial United Methodist Church in Terre Haute. She loved shopping, gardening, playing the piano, and spending time with her grandchildren. The family would like to thank VNA/Hospice of the Wabash Valley and caregivers Sarah Montgomery and Kathy Shaw for their excellent care in her final days.

Visitation will be from 4:00 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 25, 2016 in Callahan Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street, Terre Haute, IN and from 9:00 a.m. 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the Jasonville Assembly of God Church, 339 W. Main Street, Jasonville, IN. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2016 in Jasonville Assembly of God Church with Pastor Samuel Bush officiating. Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery in Jasonville.
