Charles Arthur Thrasher, 90, of Terre Haute passed away on Friday, November 1, 2013 in Davis Gardens Healthcare Center. He was born November 18, 1922 in Terre Haute to James Thrasher and Mae Nelson Thrasher. Charles was a block operator for Conrail for 38 years. Survivors include a son, John Thrasher and his wife Debbie of Poplar Bluff, MO; a daughter, Julie Hayden and her husband Marc of Indianapolis; a sister, Shirley Monniger of Terre Haute; seven grandchildren, Mindy Nieman, Andrew Thrasher and his fiancé Courtney Arnold, Whitney Thrasher-Nunez and her husband Julian, Kyle Thrasher, Adam Hayden and his wife Whitney, Ashley Hayden, and Austin Hayden; great grandchildren, Meghan and Lucas Nieman, Aubri Nunez, and Isaac and Noah Hayden; and several nieces and nephews. Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen Arnett Thrasher in 2004; his father James Thrasher; and his mother, Mae Nelson Thrasher Beck and step-father, Cecil Beck. Charles was a member of First Baptist Church for 65 years and was a founding member of the Double Ring Sunday School Class. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, November 5, 2013 in First Baptist Church, 4701 E. Poplar Street with Reverend Bernie Jackson, Reverend Steve Newman, and Reverend Marc Hayden officiating. Burial will be in Highland Lawn Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled prior to services from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday in the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 4701 E. Poplar, Terre Haute, IN 47803.
