Charles Warren Staats, 94, of Terre Haute and formerly of Clinton passed away Sunday, September 20, 2015 in his residence. He was born June 20, 1921 in Clinton, IN to Roy Staats and Myrtle Smith Staats. Charles retired from Pillsbury and was co-owner of Staats Auto Supply. Survivors include his daughter, Ann and her husband Dr. Michael Lawyer of Terre Haute; daughter-in-law, Kathleen Staats of FL; four grandchildren, Leah White of West Lafayette, IN, Melissa Zoccola of Carmel, IN, Kristin Staats of FL, and Cortney Nicol of Barrington, IL; four great grandchildren, Grace White, Madeline White, Aspen Nicol, and Chase Nicol; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Ruth Baxendale Staats; his parents; son, Charles Roy Staats; and brothers, Walter Staats and Wayne Staats. Charles was a U.S. Army Air Force captain and pilot during World War II. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion of Clinton. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Friday, September 25, 2015 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street, with Pastor Kyle Andrews officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is scheduled from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 24, 2015.
