Charles Edward Nuss, Jr., 70, of Terre Haute passed away Monday, March 6, 2017 in his residence. He was born July 24, 1946 in Terre Haute to Charles Edward Nuss and Ruth Elizabeth Cruse Nuss. Charles was a retired correctional officer.
Survivors include his wife, Rita Y. Deakins Nuss; one son, Chris Nuss and his wife Miranda; grandson, Lucas Nuss; sister, Debbie Scamihorn and her husband Randy; sisters-in-law, Kim Deakins and Janet Hapenny; nieces and nephews, Allen Scamihorn and his wife Jen, Amy Woodall, Matthew Deakins and his wife Terra, Thomas Kintner and his wife April, Josh Hapenny, Michelle Garcia and her husband Ted, Cathi Walker, Marvin "Skip" Hooper and his wife Sue, Shelly Karn, and Sheila White; several great nieces and great nephews; and his beloved dog, Cuddles. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, James Deakins; and sisters-in-law, Marilyn Norton and Sharon Williams.
Charlie was a past member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Brazil and Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Terre Haute. He served as Elder and Deacon at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Charlie was in the Army Reserves where he was a Chaplain's Assistant. Charlie also enjoyed collecting. He was a friendly and out-going person who loved the Lord.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 P.M. Noon, Wednesday, March 8, 2017 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street, with Pastor Jacob Sutton officiating. Burial will be in Highland Lawn Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled prior to services from 10:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M. on Wednesday.
