Charles S. "Chuck" Nesting

Charles Stanard (Chuck) Nesting, Jr., 92, of Terre Haute passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2020. He was born in Winslow, AZ, to Charles Stanard Nesting and Evelyn (Stone) Nesting.

Survivors include his children, John Nesting of Terre Haute, Paul Nesting (Sally Dickson) of Indianapolis, IN, Sally Eppert (Richard) of Fishers, IN and Molly Davis (Edward) of Louisville, KY; 5 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brother, Dr. Donald Nesting of San Antonio, TX; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife of 62 years, Nancy Ann (Redman) Nesting; brother, Warren Nesting; sister, Sue Chandler; brother-in-law, Robert Milton Redman; and sister-in-law, Marilyn Redman.

Chuck graduated from Winslow High School (Arizona) in 1944. While in high school he worked the counter at the Winslow Drug Store, and spent two summers supervising fire fighters in Petrified Forest National Park for the National Forest Service. After graduation from high school, Chuck earned his degree in Pharmacy at the University of New Mexico Pharmacy School, where he met his future wife Nancy (Nan) Redman. They were married in 1950.

Chuck entered the United States Air Force and was stationed in San Angelo, TX, where he volunteered for relocation to Anchorage, Alaska for the remainder of his 4-year enlistment. During their great adventure in Alaska, Chuck and Nan relished every opportunity to enjoy what Alaska had to offer, including skiing, snowshoeing, hunting, camping and fishing. After discharge, Chuck and Nan moved to Terre Haute, where he opened Meadows Pharmacy in 1956 (an original tenant of Meadows Center). Chuck ultimately opened a second pharmacy at Plaza North.

Throughout it all, Chuck remained an avid golfer who made time to travel, among his favorite destinations were the links and historic courses of Scotland. He and Nan enjoyed their memberships at the CCTH, Elks Club, Terre Haute Aero Club, Swope Art Museum, Sycamore Club, Rod & Gun Club and they supported Ducks Unlimited. They were long-standing members of Centenary United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 pm Saturday, February 1, 2020, at Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street, with Reverend Mel Camp officiating. Visitation is scheduled prior to services from 2:00 to 4:00 pm on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VNA Home Care and Hospice of the Wabash Valley.
