Charles Boehler, 69, of Terre Haute passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, November 28, 2018 in his home. He was a Machine Shop Teacher at Terre Haute North Vigo High School for 37 years. Charles was born January 21, 1949 in Batesville, IN to George J. Boehler and Doris S. Stebbins Boehler.
Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Susan Huffenberger Boehler; two sons, Andrew Boehler and Joe Boehler and his wife, Rebecca, all of Terre Haute; and two grandchildren, Morgan Boehler and Talan Boehler. Also surviving are brothers-in-law, John Huffenberger (Elaine), Mike Huffenberger (Joy) and Roger Huffenberger (Flo); a sister-in-law, Lorraine Ketner (Larry); two cousins, Mark Hunter and Erin Hunter; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Charles was a graduate of Lawrenceburg High School and received both his bachelor's and master's degrees from Indiana State University. After retirement, he enjoyed traveling with his wife and spending time with his family. He loved auto racing of all kinds and served on the fire crew at the Terre Haute Action Track and pit crew for Carmichael Racing. Charles was a big supporter of sports at Terre Haute North and West Vigo High Schools and was the proud basketball coach of the Sugar Creek Consolidated Boys Basketball Team at the Terre Haute Boys and Girls Club. He enjoyed hauling grain and helping his son, Andrew, on the farm and most of all loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was an active member of St. Benedict Catholic Church. He will be deeply missed by all.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 AM, Monday, December 3, 2018 in St. Benedict Church, 111 South 9th Street, with Father Martin Day, OFM Conv. officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday from 4:00-8:00 PM in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street.
