Cecil Hallock, 78, of Terre Haute, Indiana passed away Monday, December 9, 2024, at Ascension Saint Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis, Indiana. Cecil was born in Terre Haute on December 12, 1945, to Albert and Ruby (Starkey) Hallock. A graduate of Wiley High School and with both a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science from Indiana State University, Cecil was a computer programmer by trade and worked at Commercial Solvents, Columbia House Records, and Terre Haute Gas Corporation (later Indiana Gas). He was a dedicated father and grandfather who loved helping others. Cecil served his country in the United States Army as a Specialist 5th Class. He also served as a member of the 1st Infantry Division (Big Red One) in Vietnam and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal and Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster. He was very proud of his service. Cecil was a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church and an Assistant Scout Master at Troop 9 and Troop 200 for many years. Cecil’s hobby and passion was working on old cars and hot rods. He purchased his first hot rod at age 14 and never stopped tinkering. He was a founding member of the Illiana Classic Chevys Club, a charter member of the American TriFive Association, a member of the Special Interest Car Club, and loved to spend time with his old car buddies. Cecil is survived by his former wife, Pamela; his sons, Chris and Jason; daughters-in-law, Beth and Amanda; granddaughters, Clair and Helena; and grandsons, Harrison and Colton. Services will be held Saturday, December 28, 2024, at Callahan & Hughes (605 S. 25th Street, Terre Haute, IN) with visitation starting at 1:00 PM followed by a service and grave site burial at Highland Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Vietnam Veterans of America or a charity of your choice.
