Caroline C. Abbott

Caroline C. Abbott, 91, of Terre Haute passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 in Springhill Village. She was born April 27, 1924 in Terre Haute, IN. Caroline was a secretary for the Vigo County School Corporation. After retirement she worked at the Swope Art Gallery and Roselawn Memorial Park. Survivors include her son, Robert Chris Abbott; granddaughters, Erin Worrell and Chelsea Phillips; great grandchildren, EJ Weatherspoon, Ty Johnson, Elijah Weatherspoon, and Mahki Johnson; and brother-in-law, Richard Nicoson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jay and Irene Holder; husband, Robert Lee Abbott; and daughter, Sue "Angie" Worrell. Caroline was an active member of Unity Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of Alpha Beta Phi Sorority at Indiana University, the Bridge Club, the Women's Club, and the Birthday Club. Caroline's hobbies included cooking and sewing. She will be remembered most for her devotion to her friends and family. Recalling her hospitality and the many celebrations she hosted in her home will warm the hearts of those left to cherish her memory. Memorial services will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, August 7, 2015 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street with Reverend Andrew Black officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park at a later date. There is no visitation. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Terre Haute Humane Society or Unity Presbyterian Church.
