He was preceded in death by his parents.
Bruce worked for Hulman and Company for many years which led him to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway where he worked as Telecommunications Director for nearly 15 years. He then went to work selling tools and later became an over-the-road truck driver. He finished his working years as the Transportation Supervisor for O’Reilly Auto Parts.
Bruce had many interests in life. He loved to cook, especially with the fruits and vegetables that he grew in his own garden. Gardening led him to learn how to can and compost. He enjoyed gunsmithing and bullet reloading; he even learned to fabricate his own gunstocks. Bruce was always up for an adventure, whether it was camping or just hopping in his favorite red Jeep with Susan by his side. He was also a collector of many things, especially antiques, particularly tractors. Bruce was delighted to find his 1947 Farmall. Most of all, Bruce loved his family, his pets, and the time he was privileged to spend with them.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 31, 2025 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home. A funeral ceremony will take place at 1 p.m. on Friday, at the funeral home with Pastor Rodney Rice officiating. Bruce will be laid to rest in Oak Hill Cemetery in Riley. In honor of Bruce’s love of adventure and hats, the family requests that guests wear their favorite hat to Bruce’s visitation and service.
